English 10

In Sophomore English, students will continue to develop an understanding of and appreciation for works of literature and non-fiction through analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. The curriculum reflects a variety of perspectives, world views, and cultures and encourages student choice and agency.

Students will participate in collaborative projects, use technology to demonstrate learning, make oral presentations, conduct research, and write a variety of essays. Vocabulary and grammar skills are broadened through writing practice and literature study. Outside reading and assignments are required parts of both honors and college prep level classes.

The scope and sequence of Sophomore English is designed to reinforce the skills students will need to be successful on the Grade 10 MCAS.
